Nairobi City County is set to establish an Aggregation Industrial Park bringing together various traders and artisans from across Nairobi to increase trade and employment especially amongst the youth.

“We are set to establish a County Aggregation Industrial Park along Thika road. The city is not like other counties that have produce, our resource is our intellect, our youth. This is a space for the youth to develop their skills. It will generate direct job opportunities for artisans in the informal sector and promote use of locally available resources that would in turn lower the cost of construction,” said Nairobi Governor H.E Sakaja Johnson.

He was speaking during the launch of Dandora Land Registry on Monday. Noting that the industrial park would boost the level of trade in Nairobi with the market opening up new markets including other counties and neighbouring countries to source for finished goods here. The park is in partnership with the National Government.

He noted that the industrial park will be a major source of construction material and furniture for the ongoing low-cost housing projects being undertaken by both the National and County governments.

“There is no need to import furniture with this industrial park, from here contractors can source doors, metal work and other materials,” he said.

Nairobi County is redeveloping nine county estates with the target to construct an additional 34,100 units in Bahati, Maringo, Jericho, Lumumba, Ziwani, Bondeni, Kariobangi North, Embakasi and Woodley Estates.
